The Gathering
This is a three-day event that brings together photographers, curators and writers with an interest in the desert. The well-suited site for the gathering is the Goldwell Open Air Museum near the famed ghost town of Rhyolite, on the edge of Death Valley and four miles from the town of Beatty, Nevada.
Activities of the event will consist of:
- two days of workshops at the Red Barn and the Beatty Community Center
- evening presentations at the Red Barn
- informal talks by speakers and instructors about their photography and research interests
- opportunities for attending photographers to have their portfolios and projects reviewed
- community dinners held at the Red Barn
Who Should Come:
- practicing photographers of all levels of experience and background
- those with an interest in the desert as landscape, history, place of pilgrimage, aesthetic experience, arid biotope and cultural phenomenon
- collectors of photography
- writers and poets whose subject is the desert
